Languages
British English is the first language of all people on the Isle of Man; however
there is a very small number of the population who speak the native language Manx
Gaelic. Part of the Celtic language family, it resembles other Gaelic languages
like Scottish and Irish. Children on the Isle of Man study Manx at school and have
done since 1992, but it is not compulsory.
